2.16.5 Introduction:
The Wellbeing for Schools Framework and School Excellence Framework require schools to provide opportunities for meaningful student participation and leadership, including student voice and decision making.
2.16.6 Guidelines:
Future leaders need an educational environment which encourages, nurtures and provides strong direction for students to reach their full potential. Students at Cullen Bullen Public School have a number of leadership opportunities.
The SRC is the student body made up of the elected student leaders from all classes 3-6, including Support Unit. The SRC is co-ordinated by the Principal. The main aim of this council is to provide the students with a voice for improving the school. Weekly meetings provide students with the opportunity to raise issues, concerns or suggestions about their school. These issues are then raised with the Principal where final decisions are made.
The SRC representatives then report the results of these discussions to the school.
Another aim of the SRC is fundraising for school and other charity organisations. The SRC/Leaders hold raffles and mufti days to help others in need.
The SRC leaders are also responsible for co-ordinating and running Term assemblies.
SRC/ Leaders attend the National Young Leaders day in Sydney or the SRC Leader Sport and Recreation Camps (where possible).
Leadership is also fostered in a number of extra curricula endeavours such sporting teams, debating and public speaking, One Schools VC.
The leadership opportunities include
- Student Representative Council
- Sport Leadership
- National Young Leaders Day
- Buddies ( Kinder with Year 6 students)
- Year 2 Assembly Leadership
- Sports Shed Leaders
